Delegation of Ukrainian MoD Meets with Leaders of International Secretary and NATO

The delegation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence held talks with the leaders of the International Secretary and the NATO International Military Staff.

During the meeting with Terry Stamatopoulos, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, the parties discussed the NATO-Ukraine military education cooperation and identified the areas of cooperation.

NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy emphasized that the project of cooperation with Ukraine aimed to support the military education reform under the modern standards, was one of the most ambitious of partner countries. He drew attention to the successful launch of the Roadmap on NATO-Ukraine cooperation for improvement of military education in 2013-2016.

The Head of the Ukrainian delegation, Major General Igor Tolok, Director, Department of Military Education and Science, thanked for comprehensive assistance provided to Ukraine from NATO nations and partners, their educational and research institutions.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue practical cooperation within the Roadmap.

The delegation held talks with Brigadier General Ivan Caruso, Deputy Director, Cooperation & Regional Security Division, NATO International Military Staff; the parties discussed the strengthening the constructive partnership with NATO and increase of efficiency of the Ukrainian International Peacekeeping and Security Center. Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk, Chief of Hetman Sahaydachny Land Forces Academy, gave some proposals concerning the efficient use of the International Peacekeeping and Security Center during the PfP exercises and trainings.

The parties agreed to consider the cooperation proposals at the NATO-Ukraine headquarters talks for 2014.
