Tasmanian Delegation Discusses Their Plans to Secure Australian Defence Contracts

A Tasmanian delegation of the state’s politicians, business and union leaders traveled to Canberra, on May 7th, and discussed their plans to secure Australian defence contracts for Tasmanian based shipbuilder Incat.

The delegation, led by Federal Labor Candidate for Denison Jane Austin, Labor Senator Carol Brown and Incat Australia’s managing director Craig Clifford, met with the Australian Minister for Defence Materiel Mike Kelly to talk about the possibility of securing the contracts.

As Skynews reports, Mr. Mike Kelly, confirmed he will visit Tasmania in the next few months to consider whether to allocate defence contracts to Incat.

If Incat were able to secure Australian Defence Force contracts it would be a significant boost for the Tasmanian economy through the creation of extra jobs.
