HMS Illustrious to Visit Malta

A task response group of the Royal Navy is going to visit Malta between 19 and 23 November, writes the Malta Today.com.

HMS Illustrious that will be berthed at Pinto Wharf in Grand Harbour, will be joined by HMS Bulwark, RFA Mounts Bay and MV Hartland Point.  All ships have deployed to the Mediterranean for a three month long training. Visitors can tour HMS Illustrious on 21 and 22 November between 1pm and 4pm.

HMS Illustrious is the second of three Invincible-class light aircraft carriers built for the Royal Navy in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

She is the fifth warship and second aircraft carrier to bear the name Illustrious, and is affectionately known as “Lusty” to her crew.
