Russia to Deliver Another Missile Frigate to India

Russia will deliver the second of three frigates built for India at Yantar Shipyard on Friday, RIA Novosti reports.

The delivery ceremony of  the warship will be held in Kaliningrad, said Spokesman for the Yantar Shipyard.

The contract for construction of the three Talwar class guided missile frigates, also known as modified Krivak III class frigates, was signed in 2006.

The Talwar Class has a displacement of 4,000 tons and speed of 30 knots and is capable of accomplishing a wide variety of missions, primarily, finding and eliminating enemy submarines and large surface ships.

The last in the series of three frigates, the Trikand, is currently undergoing  dock trials.

The last frigate will join Indian Navy in the summer of 2013.
