Sri Lankan Navy Arrests Persons with Sea Cumbers

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command on received information arrested eleven persons who were illegally harvesting sea cucumber at Melinchimunai on 09th May 2012.

One hundred and thirty eight (138) sea cucumbers, 02 FGDs, 15 under water torches, 10 pairs of diving fins, and 14 goggles were among the items, which were taken into naval custody. The arrested persons and the items were handed over to Fishery Inspector at Kayts for onward action.
