UK: IFS Receives Prestigious Chief of Defence Material Award

IFS Defence has been awarded a prestigious Certificate of Commendation by the Chief of Defence Material (CDM) for its work with the UK Royal Navy. The commendation was given in recognition of the IFS Defence team’s outstanding achievement in developing and delivering a coherent support solution while displaying professionalism and commitment.

In 2009, IFS Defence was awarded a five-year contract by the UK Royal Navy to provide support and application hosting for the MoD Navy primary Mainenance Management System (UMMS). Following the successful development and delivery of the solution, the efforts of the joint team, including IFS Defence and Ministry of Defence (MoD) staff, have been recognized at a ceremony held at the MoD Main Buildings in London.

The key team members, Dion Hoare, Neil Piggot and David Poole displayed exceptional professionalism, commitment and teamwork to deliver the project successfully against a very tight timescale. The team’s success has ensured the continued operational availability of the application to the fleet, without which the front line would be impacted in supporting the Platform Safety Cases.

The IFS support solution for the Unit Maintenance Management System lies at the very heart of the Royal Navy’s Maritime Engineering and Asset Management strategy. IFS Defence was essential to the successful implementation of the UMMS Managed Service, which included the commissioning of a dedicated UMMS Hosting Facility with MoD-wide access and provision of second line support to the UMMS shore customers (approximately 3500) in addition to the original third line support. The UK Royal Navy uses UMMS as the primary onboard maintenance management and scheduling tool for all major surface and subsurface vessels; it is also being deployed across the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
