USA: ViaSat Bags USD 14 Million Joint Tactical Radio System Contract

 

ViaSat, Carlsbad, Calif., is being awarded a $14,127,671 cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order for the development, qualification, and delivery of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System Block Cycle One cryptographic modernization update. 

Work will be performed in Carlsbad, Calif. (30 percent), and in various other sites worldwide (70 percent), and is expected to be completed by May 6, 2013.   Contract funds in the amount of $1,595,716 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

This contract was not competitively procured because it is a sole-source acquisition.  The synopsis was released via the Federal Business Opportunities website on March 29, 2010.  The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity (N00039-10-D-0032).
