SAIC Bags USD 19 Million Engineering and Physical Life Sciences Contract

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to provide engineering and physical life sciences research and development services in support of the NRL Chemistry Division. The single-award contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a contract ceiling value of more than $19 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily at NRL facilities in Washington, D.C.

NRL operates as the Navy’s full-spectrum corporate laboratory, conducting a broadly based multidisciplinary program of scientific research and advanced technological development. Under the contract, SAIC will provide engineering and physical life sciences research and development services, as required, in support of the NRL Chemistry Division, including analysis and sensing; carbon cycling in aquatic, marine, and terrestrial ecosystems; materials; and development, analysis, and modeling of unexploded ordnance sensors.

“We look forward to bringing the right people, technology, and systems together to deliver the innovative, integrated solutions that NRL requires to advance the development of maritime applications of new and improved materials, techniques, equipment, systems, and ocean, atmospheric, and space sciences and related technologies,” said J.T. Grumski, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
